We have to be a democratic and membership driven organization to be an effective union. An informed membership with a voice that is listened to, not just at convention, would make for a stronger union, ensuring the needs of our membership are met.
I have been elected as the Trades Local President, Trades Board member Director, Portage Labour Council and Portage Plains United Way representative. I am proud to have been elected as Area Council 4 Director for 15 years, and as the member elected to the Technological Change, Constitution and By-Laws, and Safety, Health and Environment Committees. In addition, I served as Vice-Chair of the Constitution and By-Laws Committee and was Chairperson of the Safety, Health and Environment and the Grievance and Appeals Committee. And what a wonderful experience it is to coordinate Area 4 golf tournaments and the Portage Plains United Way Spaghetti luncheons.
In my capacity as a Board of Directors member, my peers elected me as the Civil Service Joint Council Representative.
Our Union has always been important to me and I would be proud to serve as your 1st Vice-President of this great Union.
